Climbing Armenia

Day 1
Coming to Yerevan in the early morning. We will pick you up from the airport, check in, in the hotel and we will go for a sightseeing. We will see colorful Republic Square, visit History Museum of Armenia, Opera and Ballet Theatre and Cascade Complex from where we will see Ararat. In the end we will visit The Matenadaran which is a repository of ancient manuscripts.

Day 2
In the morning we will go by car in Sevan Lake direction to do Tsaghkashen Route trekking. Tsaghkashen means “being built by flowers”. We will have a walk through flowery meadows, passing churches and tents of local people. The route is 7 km long. We will spend the night at Lake Aknalich in tents at an altitude of 2800 meters.

Day 3
Expedition to Azhdahak (3597 meters). We will reach the heart of the Ghegam Mountains by car, where we will start trekking, that will take around 5 hours. We will walk 18 km both ways. At the top of Azhdahak there is a lake that was formed in a crater of melting snow. We will be able to admire the beautiful panorama with Ararat, Aragats and Lake
Sevan in the background. We will spend the night in tents.

Day 4
A day of rest and relaxation. We will go down to the village where we will have a barbeque and relax by the pool.

Day 5
We set off by car to the base camp under Mount Aragats at an altitude of 2900 meters. The transfer will take 3 hours. On the way, we will stop to admire beautiful panoramas and visit monasteries.

Day 6
Wake up around midnight. We leave after breakfast. The goal is two peaks in the Aragats Massif – the highest, western 4095 meters, and southern 3879 meters. The way to the top takes 5 to 7 hours. After reaching both summits, we return to the camp for rest, meal and overnight stay.

Day 7
Return to Yerevan for further sightseeing. Transfer to Tsitsernakaberd Hill, a place commemorating the Armenian genocide by the Turks in 1915. We will visit the memorial dedicated to these events and the museum. Then we will come back to town to visit the local bazaars. We will taste, eat and buy local handicrafts and delicacies.

Day 8
After breakfast, we will set off to the south of Armenia to visit the Khor Virap Monastery, one of the greatest tourist attractions in Armenia. The monastery offers an unforgettable view of the snow-capped slopes of the biblical Mount Ararat. For those willing, after their return, a visit to the Ararat Cognac Factory and Museum with tasting is planned (additionally payable approx. EUR 15).

Day 9
Transfer to the airport. Return to the country.
